Het is verstandig om je handschoenen niet alleen te prewashen voor het eerste gebruik, maar ook tussen de trainingen en wedstrijden door af en toe schoon te maken. Dit is in het bijzonder verstandig als je op gras traint, om zo het zand uit de handschoenen te wassen. Je kunt dit op dezelfde manier doen als de prewash, je hebt alleen lauw/warm water en een handdoek nodig. Daarnaast is het belangrijk om de handschoenen tussen het gebruik door nat te houden, niet op elkaar te leggen en op een donkere plek te bewaren.
